David Hayes at Rockefeller Center
Exhibition and Private Reception at Hyperion Galleries
NEW YORK, NY — An exhibition of work by the late American sculptor David Hayes will open at Rockefeller Center on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with a private evening reception at Hyperion Galleries.
Hosted by attorney Daniel Stock, curator Tingyi Maria Huang, Carole Bellidora Westfall, and David M. Hayes, the one-night exhibition brings together sculpture and painting spanning several periods of Hayes’s career within one of New York’s most historically significant cultural and architectural settings.
Across a six-decade career, Hayes was exhibited internationally and entered the collections of major museums including the Museum of Modern Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. David Hayes studied with sculptor David Smith and later worked in Paris on a Fulbright fellowship, where he spent time with Alexander Calder.
The exhibition at Hyperion Galleries reflects a continued resurgence of institutional and public interest in Hayes’s work. The Rockefeller Center exhibition extends that trajectory by situating Hayes’s work within a landmark synonymous with modern American art, architecture, and public culture.
Located at 620 Fifth Avenue in the heart of Rockefeller Center, Hyperion Galleries provides an intimate setting for the exhibition, allowing visitors close engagement with Hayes’s sculptural vocabulary.
Additional artists with work on view include Ling Huang, Alika, Cris, Olivia Janna Genereaux, Ning Zhang, Moni Oolyonghai, and Rick Scarola.
The reception will take place Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Hyperion Galleries, Rockefeller Center, 620 Fifth Avenue, Second Floor, New York, New York. Admission is by invitation and RSVP is required.
